Where they come from is a mystery, but they come in many shapes, sizes and in varying shades of friendliness. They are the enemies and sometimes friends of the Protector of the Known Universe, Mildred, who with her companion bird Ishmael and highly intelligent but horrifying cat Shummy, fights off and guards the portal to the unknown universe through which the Shums escape. Conveniently located in the back of a particularly dilapidated Wal-mart, which Mildred also calls home.
Here we see three known shums, who shall be called 'Beans' 'Peas' and 'Scrotumnish'
Beans is a friendly but rather unintelligent fellow who loves to follow anyone wearing polka dots or carrying cans of kidney beans wagging his smallish tail.
Peas is a conniving fellow who believes he is far more intelligent than he really is.
Scrotumnish likes to creep behind corners using his large globular sacks to emit strange grunty and squeaky noises.
Here we see the elusive 'Buttons'
Buttons enjoys long walks on the beach at sunset. But no one wants to be his friend because of his strange and particular habit of emitting random high pitched shrieks from his constantly gaping maw.
